Job Description: Testing and troubleshooting Power Plants and Oil Refineries. Planning and making all arrangements for travel to and from customer locations around the world. Set up test equipment and perform test on all vacuum boundary components such as turbines, boiler feed pumps, condensers, expansion joints, water box seams vacuum pumps and heaters until vacuum leak is located. Process requires spraying or injecting helium into the vacuum boundary and monitoring the response time to get the sample back to the Mass Spectrometer via the air removal system. Prepare a list of leaks found with photos and a leak repair recommendation list for plant supervisors and management. Testing was performed at Nuclear, Fossil and Combined Cycle power plants as well as oil refineries.
Required training: Hazmat, confined space, fall protection, scaffolding, radiation, Lockout-Tag out, electric and fire prevention. I also passed an extensive background check for admittance to nuclear power plants.
