HR/Safety Manager

Objective

To acquire a position within company wherein I can apply my acquired Human Resources/Safety Managerial skills wherein I can manage, plan, coordinate, communicate/perform professional and site-specific functions, and assist with the completion of the activities to enable the site to operate safely, efficiently, profitably of the company. Designed to maximize employee performance in service of their employer’s strategic objectives.

 

Previous Duties as Area Manager:

  • Reported to the General Manager of the Region in Salt Lake City (MMR).

Proactively handle safety issues and practice Take 5! Process by using the HAT tool and the                                             4             4 T’s to promote personal responsibility for safety. Develop professional relationships with both                 I             Internal and external customers to successfully meet objectives and add value for customers,                                                 v             joint ventures, manufacturing sites and distribution.

Respond professionally and timely to address problems and business requests.

Understand and enhance requirements to continually improve customer/company profitability,

And good community relations with communities, public safety and regulatory agencies.

  • Assist the development/implementation of site/operations budget in Florida and the Caribbean.
  • Position requires me to interact with HR, HSEQ and Engineering on projects and assignments.
  • Previous overseeing the Florida/Caribbean drilling and blasting projects.
  • In charge of the utilization rates for truck/drill rigs in Florida and the Caribbean.
  • Oversee the expense accountability and responsible for gross margins.
  • Travel to and attend regional meetings and regional TOL meetings for the Southeast Region.
  • Travel to job sites to troubleshoot and recommend solutions and changes in order to improve.

Interact with local MSHA, OSHA, DOT, EPA and ATF

 

Previous Duties as Site Manager:

  • Report to the Area Manager of the Southeast Region.
  • Attend and conduct monthly site safety meetings and support safety programs.
  • Conduct morning daily tailgate meetings.
  • Manage and schedule all workload for drilling and/or drill movement in South Florida area.
  • Establish a good working relationship with employees and customers.
  • Negotiate with vendors in order to establish the best price available for parts and services.
  • Prepare monthly site inspections on compound and on trucks/drills

 

     Previous Duties as Staff Specialist III:

  • Report to South Florida Site Manager.
  • Prepare time cards and time sheets for payroll purposes.
  • Serve and process accounts payables and accounts receivables and review them for processing in Morgantown, WV
  • Order parts and request purchase order numbers.
  • Organize and maintain vendor files.
  • Prepare drill/blasting log reports.
  • Prepare monthly reports for Site Manager.
  • Prepare purchase cards/monthly expense reports.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings.
  • Previous employed with Dyno Nobel/dnx drilling from 12/2006 to 2/2013 as an Area Manager. Prior to this position, I was employed as a Field Supervisor for 8 years for the Miami Site Plan. Served as intermediate Site Manager before becoming permanent.
  • Since the purchase of ETI from IRECO of Florida/Dyno Nobel Inc. in 1991, I was employed as a Lead Blaster in charge of shot patterns, responsible for equipment and personnel.
  • Prior to that position, I started my employment with E.I. DuPont in 1984 as a Laborer and moved up the ranks to PTO. My employment history illustrates my ability to become accustomed to any position and duties assigned.
  • Over 28 years of blasting/drilling experience in the South Florida area. Many of those years conducting supervisory duties on different jobsite/projects for Dyno Nobel Inc.

  

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and to communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to speak Spanish and communicate with Spanish speaking employees.
  • Possess the ability in leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and motivation of others, within the company to successfully complete goals and objectives, as a HR agent.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and be flexible on several projects simultaneously.
  • Make decisions of a moderate to high degree of complexity.
  • Coordinate activities and delegate responsibility.
  • Establish and implement policies, practices and controls.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Points and, Lotus Notes.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable DOT, OSHA, MSHA, EPA and BATFE regulations.
  • I respond professionally and timely to address problems and business requests.
  • I have patience, listening, problems solving and good judgment.
  • Able to manage stress and multiple priorities, meet deadlines, set goals and resolve problems.
  • Highly-motivated and results orientated manager
