Job Summary

The Tower Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, and operation of wireless and wired communication systems on cellular towers and related structures. This role supports senior technicians and crew leads while learning industry standards and safe tower operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with installing and maintaining wireless equipment and systems on new and existing towers.
  • Follow and implement industry safety standards (OSHA, TIA, NATE, ANSI).
  • Load, unload, and organize materials and equipment at job sites.
  • Prepare and close out job sites.
  • Assist with new carrier installations and tower modifications.
  • Support tower erection using manlifts, cranes, gin poles, and other equipment.
  • Assist with foundations, grounding, conduits, and basic electrical installations where applicable.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors in a timely and professional manner.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Entry-level position; prior construction or tower experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and provide a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to learn how to read construction drawings and RFDS.
  • Basic knowledge or interest in line and antenna installation (coax, jumpers, connectors, weatherproofing) preferred.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to climb towers and work at heights (100+ feet).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel throughout the state with overnight stays as needed.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and occasional emergency call-outs.
  • Must be dependable, safety-focused, and able to work well in a team environment.

Certifications (Preferred or Will Be Trained)

  • Climbing / Rigging
  • OSHA 10 or 30
  • CPR / First Aid
  • RF Awareness
  • Aerial Lift
  • PIM / TTT (preferred but not required)
