My duties at this company varied greatly. I did everything that is involved with the building of a pole barn. One minute I would be digging the post holes and setting the posts, the next I would be nailing on the truss carriers and setting the truss’ in place. I also installed all of the steel roofing/siding, trim, doors, and soffit.
I was the only employee working for John Romine. I quickly learned to be self-motivated and gained confidence in myself, which in turn has proven to me over and over that anything can be done if you’re motivated and put your mind into it!

Tower Technician
Costrotta Construction, Columbia, MD
January 2011 – July 2012
This was my first job in the telecommunication industry. My responsibilities here for the first month were mostly warehouse duties, such as picking up sites, assembling all of the equipment (antennas, radios, brackets) and getting it ready to be installed on the tower structure.
After above said warehouse work I was promoted into working in the field where I started working on the ground running and supporting hybrid cables/coax, installing equipment (fiber distribution boxes, cabinets, etc), rigging radios, antennas, and everything needing to be installed on the tower. I would also do all of the grounding and terminate all of the power and fibers.
When I had proven myself on the ground I was trained and certified as a climber and quickly began learning the job of a tower hand.

I have also gained a considerable amount of experience with of decommissioning of Nextel, AT&T, and Verizon tower sites. In addition to this I have also been instructed in the complete site builds with AT&T LTE, and Verizon AWS.
Recently I have been promoted to a lead position because I have repeatedly displayed the knowledge, quality of work and motivating skills needed to run a crew. I can run the top if needed and I can run the bottom if needed.
I also have recently gained more experience as we have started doing Sprint’s 2.5 upgrade. This upgrade includes installation of antennas, radios, hybrid lines, grounding, cabinets, coax jumpers, fiber, and power termination.

I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, and I also really like to work on things that I own and anything mechanical. If something needs to be done on my truck and I have the capability to do the work, I would rather do it myself rather than pay someone else to do it. I love fixing things! If something is not working right or just broken, I find it fun to just sit down and figure out what exactly needs to happen in order to fix whatever is broken.
