  • Platoon level Communications chief in charge of 3 teams and a headquarters element’s communications equipment, surveillance equipment, and cryptographic equipment. Tasked with programming, maintaining, troubleshooting, and instructing marines how to use this equipment. Equipment included VHF, UHF, HF, and Satellite Communications through voice and data.
  • Training and mentorship of Afghan National Army Raiders. Instruction included weapons handling, actions during contact, mobile and static security, heavy machinegun operation, CQB, raids, combat lifesaver techniques, detainee handling, and patrolling skills.

    • Member of a 30 man security platoon responsible for base security of a major air base (Al Asad)
    • To include Entry Control Points, Vehicle Control Points, external patrolling, perimeter security, and Quick Reaction Forces.
    • Completed searches of vehicles and personnel for IED’s and other contraband.
    • Assisted with an entire restructure of entry gate defenses to include concertina wire fences, Heavy machine gun bunker construction, and perimeter tower construction.
    • Kept a log book of all entry and exits to include all radio transmissions to and from posts.
    • Implemented extensive knowledge of heavy machine guns and assisted with training and upkeep of said weapons.

    • Qualified as a Stinger Missile Gunner, Avenger Turret operator, and HMMWV operator to include driving and navigating in low light and using night vision devices.
