February 2006 to August 2009 – Sky Ute Sand & Gravel, LLC – Farmington, New Mexico
Vice President responsible for quality control, engineering, risk management, and research and development activities for six aggregate pits, 5 Portland Cement batch plants, one precast production unit, and 2 continuous mix asphalt plant facilities. Managed major and minor construction projects consisting of structural concrete, asphalt concrete, highway, bridge, building, oil & gas feature, and power plant construction.
March 1994 to February 2006 – Western Technologies Inc. – Farmington, New Mexico
Vice President and Managing Director for offices in Farmington and Gallup, New Mexico; Carbondale, Grand Junction, Montrose, Telluride, Durango, Pagosa Springs, and Monte Vista, Colorado. Our firm provided geotechnical engineering, geotechnical and environmental drilling services, materials testing and engineering/design, construction inspection, project administration, and forensic distress evaluations and legal team support. Construction Management services were provided for highway, bridge, oil & gas feature, and power plant construction.
January 1990 to March 1994 – Chen-Northern, Inc. – Denver, Colorado
As Field Services Engineering Manager, the responsibilities included project management of up to about 10 projects at one time; supervising all field and laboratory technicians (about 30), inspectors, and engineers; and profit and loss accountability.
January 1986 to January 1990 – Converse Consultants West, Inc. – Pasadena, California
Hired as the Materials Engineering Services Supervisor, the responsibilities grew when I was promoted to the Engineering Services Manager position, then Chief Operations Officer of Construction Testing West; a newly formed union subsidiary. Converse Consultants West provided geotechnical engineering and monitoring services, and Construction Testing West provided materials testing and construction inspection services. I left California shortly after the riots in Los Angeles, where I was frequently providing services.
January 1984 to January 1986 – Western Technologies Inc., - Phoenix, Arizona
Assigned to the Major and Special Projects division, I travelled throughout Arizona and California providing materials testing in the field and laboratory on special projects; primarily airports. When Western Technologies Inc. left California after providing services on the French Valley Airport near Hemet, California, I stayed.
January 1981 to January 1984 – Empire Laboratories, Inc. – Cheyenne, Wyoming
Primarily assigned as a field and laboratory technician, I travelled throughout Wyoming providing materials testing and geotechnical monitoring services.
December 1978 to December 1981 – United States Navy – Groton, Connecticut
After boot camp and submarine school, I was assigned as a Sonar Technician to the USS ANDREW JACKSON (SSBN 619)(GOLD); a Lafayette Class Fleet Ballistic Missile Poseidon Submarine. I was honorably discharged at my End of Active Obligated Service (EAOS) term and transferred to the reserves for 2 years.
