This role involves evaluating existing site conditions, defining project scope, developing accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), and estimating construction cycle times for Nokia equipment installations. The specialist serves as a key liaison between engineering, construction, and project management teams to ensure projects are accurately scoped, cost-effective, and ready for execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform desktop surveys utilizing drone footage, construction drawings (CDs), RFDS packages, structural analyses, and mount analyses to assess existing tower, rooftop, shelter, and ground infrastructure.
- Review and validate proposed Nokia equipment configurations, including AirScale baseband systems, RRUs, antennas, cabinets, fiber, and power infrastructure.
- Identify required upgrades and modifications based on project requirements, site conditions, and existing network configurations.
- Create detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for Nokia equipment deployments, including:
- AirScale Baseband Units (BBUs)
- Remote Radio Units (RRUs)
- Antennas and mounts
- Fiber and DC power cabling
- Grounding and surge protection systems
- Cable management hardware and ancillary materials
- Measure and document equipment elevations, azimuths, antenna configurations, cable routing, and mounting requirements.
- Determine realistic construction cycle times for equipment installations, cable runs, rigging activities, integration, testing, and commissioning.
- Prepare detailed scoping reports, annotated drawings, photo markups, and material lists using company-approved tools and templates.
- Identify constructability concerns, access limitations, and engineering conflicts that could impact deployment schedules.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, permitting, and project management teams to ensure project feasibility and readiness.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and update internal tracking systems and construction management platforms.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in wireless telecommunications construction, deployment, integration, or scoping.
- Strong knowledge of Nokia wireless equipment, including AirScale platforms, RRUs, BBUs, antennas, fiber systems, and power infrastructure.
- Experience supporting LTE and 5G deployments and modernization projects.
- Understanding of RF pathing, antenna configurations, and wireless site infrastructure.
- Familiarity with PIM testing, sweep testing, commissioning, and integration activities.
- Experience creating and validating BOMs, equipment schedules, and construction drawings.
- Ability to estimate labor requirements and construction cycle times based on industry installation standards.
- Working knowledge of grounding, tower safety practices, and RF safety requirements.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Nokia AirScale LTE and 5G technologies.
- Knowledge of Nokia deployment, integration, and commissioning procedures.
- Experience supporting network modernization and equipment swap projects.
- Tower climbing certification, NWSA, or ComTrain certification.
- Experience with Siterra, SiteTracker, or similar wireless deployment platforms.
- Basic AutoCAD, Visio, Bluebeam, or photo-markup experience.
- Experience utilizing Excel-based BOM tools, ERP systems, or procurement platforms.
Working Conditions
- Remote or office-based position following training.
- Occasional travel may be required for site audits, validation visits, or project meetings.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate possesses hands-on experience with Nokia LTE and 5G infrastructure, understands wireless construction and deployment methodologies, can accurately develop BOMs and labor estimates, and is capable of evaluating site readiness for successful network implementation.
