SUMMARY

I have been a heavy equipment field mechanic and operator in Southeast Alaska for the last four years and I'm hoping to continue to challenge myself in new and exciting fields within the heavy equipment and trucking realm. I am currently working in SW MI at a small shop maintaining a fleet of trucks and equipment. I'm looking to expand my skills as an operator and missing the travel I was afforded when I was up north.

Diagnose and repair wide range of equipment from skid steer's to haul trucks to excavators. Experience with Volvo, Hitachi, Atlas Copco and Caterpillar in both surface and underground settings.

This was the largest non-Caterpillar equipment dealership in Alaska. I was responsible for the maintaining, diagnosing and repairing a wide range of equipment from compact equipment like skid steer's, loaders and compactor to large size like loaders and haul trucks (underground and surface) to excavators and graders and large size loaders. Certified in Volvo, Mack, Hitachi and Atlas Copco. Became knowledgeable in VCADS. Part of my duties included trips to multiple sites all across Alaska including many float plane trips to southeast Alaska's villages and the Greens Creek Mine Site on Admiralty Island to maintain both underground and surface equipment. I also was able to spent time as far north as Barrow and for extended stays in Anchorage where I would do local service calls and also long distance calls such as driving to the Kenai peninsula. During these trips I accrued knowledge and experience with running and maintaining drills, compressors and generators.
Accomplishments
Became very proficient at planning and gathering parts and tools needed for do repairs hundreds of miles from a shop.
Very efficient at traveling multi-stop and multi-vehicle methods (i.e. float planes, boats, ferries, etc.) with 100+ lbs of gear, parts and tools.
Gained valuable experience at being guided and also guiding diagnostics and repair over the phone to mechanics or engineers while in the field
Performed product demonstrations and orientations for customers with purchase of a new machine.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Duties included being able to diagnose and repair all vehicles in the fleet from the trucks Kenworth C500's and T800's to the heavy equipment ranging from compactors and loaders to large excavators, haul trucks and crushers. Also, diesel pickup trucks, boats (skiffs, twin 425 hp Cummins custom install on a landing craft, 80 ft 1600 hp tugboat) pumps, shop tools, welders and welding supplies, fuel and water trucks.A large part of this position included the need to design and fabricate any and all necessary parts, brackets, mounts or any other pieces to complete the job required.
