We are seeking a Cost Estimator & Inside Sales Specialist to develop accurate project quotes and support inside sales operations as we grow into more complex projects.
Position Overview
This hybrid role combines cost estimating (primary responsibility) with inside sales support (secondary responsibility). The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills for estimating, excellent communication for sales coordination, and advanced proficiency in Salesforce CRM. This position is critical to ensure accurate pricing, smooth vendor coordination, and effective management of sales data. This position reports directly to the VP of Sales.
Role Breakdown to Ensure Success
Cost Estimation – 60% (Primary Focus)
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for radome work, antenna installations, and related ground station projects.
o Develop preliminary pricing for labor, equipment, mobilization, and materials
o Coordinate with operations on crew requirements, durations and best approach
o Verify prevailing wage, overtime, per diem, and travel requirements
o Coordinate equipment rental, shipping, and subcontractor pricing
o Utilize Excel extensively for cost modeling
• Issues and manage RFQs and RFPs to vendors and subcontractors for heavy equipment and specialty services (e.g., electrical, HVAC).
• Ensure compliance with prime contract flow-down clauses, wage determinations, and other contractual requirements.
• Analyze vendor quotes and negotiate pricing to ensure competitive bids.
• Coordinate logistics, materials, and scheduling with internal teams and external partners.
Inside Sales Support – 40% (Secondary Focus)
• Support VP of Sales with lead tracking, opportunity management, and pipeline reporting.
• Manage and update sales information in Salesforce CRM; ensure data accuracy and reporting for the leadership team.
• Assist in preparing customer correspondence, cover letters, and submission packages.
• Support customer onboarding and account setup documentation
• Support contract award handoff to Program/Project Management team
Clear Boundaries & Expectations
• Primary KPI: Accuracy and timeliness of cost estimates.
• Secondary KPI: Salesforce data integrity and timely support for inside sales tasks.
• Workload Management: Cost Estimating tasks will be scheduled and prioritized to avoid conflict with Inside Sales responsibilities.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Required Skills:
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for cost analysis and modeling.
• Strong working knowledge of Salesforce CRM.
• Experience issuing RFQs/RFPs and managing vendor/subcontractor relationships.
• Understanding of contractual requirements, flow-down clauses, and wage determinations.
• Excellent organizational and coordination skills.
Preferred:
• Certifications in estimating or project management are a plus
• Experience with estimating software tools beyond Excel, such as Procore, simPRO or Jobber.
• Background in horizontal construction, ground station projects, or similar technical environments.
• Experience in US Government contracts, including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Davis-Bacon Act and Service Contract Act.
• Familiarity with logistics planning and material procurement.
