The Construction Field Safety Specialist is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and enforcing companywide safety plans for tower climbing, wireless projects, and various construction safety needs associated with tower work. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)
Essential Position Functions:
• Implements and enforces the Corporate Health and Safety Program. Initiates and communicates
updates to the program as needed.
• Ensures compliance with all safety policies and industry regulations, including, but not limited
to OSHA, NATE and other applicable government, state, and local agencies.
• Ensures tower climbing, fall protection, electrical safety, radio frequency (RF), ladder, and driving within the Wireless division and ensures all safety programs are implemented within the Construction division.
• Conducts periodic site visits, inspects, and audits working conditions, safety equipment and
machinery.
• Reviews Construction Work Plans and all specifications pertaining to the project in relation to
OSHA rules and regulations and job specifications.
• Researches and recommends necessary safety equipment and tools.
• Conducts relevant safety training and up-training and monitors toolbox safety talk compliance.
(Training may be conducted in person or web based).
• Coordinates implementation and distributes safety-related directives and procedures from the
Health and Safety Manager.
• Investigates accidents, incidents, and near misses. Issues a root cause analysis report and
assists in developing an action plan to avoid future similar incidents.
• Assists Fleet Coordinator concerning DOT/Medical Certificate compliance.
• Evaluates safety performance of employees, including documenting violations and providing
possible corrective actions.
• Ensures all subcontractors and suppliers are informed of and comply with contractual
environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Conducts construction inspections and reviews additional reports provided by subcontractors
concerning applicable safety standards.
Education and/or Experience:
• High School Diploma required, Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Must have been previously trained, qualified, and capable of safely climbing/tower rescue. Current
certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
• 3-5 years in the Cell Tower Industry with a wireless construction background and a solid
understanding of wireless communications and radio frequency (RF) exposure.
• Ability to understand wireless communications and radio frequency (RF) exposure.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical bulletins, technical procedures, and government policy. Ability to write reports, various correspondence, procedural manuals, and present information to questions managers and customers.
• Must have highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen, criminal background check, and have an acceptable MVR. Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Current OSHA 510 and/or 511 preferred, but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use
hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and
hear. Employees may be required to drive distances, climb to significant heights, and work in

• This position requires 20%-50% travel. Most travel is planned in advance.
