Dillon was founded in 1937 by William C. Dillon in the USA as a supplier of cable tensioning products to the armed forces. The company grew rapidly, expanded its offering and today has a comprehensive range of force measurement devices. These products are sold into a wide variety of markets worldwide including lifting applications, telecommunications, aviation, military, public utilities and lift maintenance.
In 1986, Dillon was acquired by Avery Weigh-Tronix, a world leading manufacturer of industrial scales, weighing equipment and measurement devices. With a long history dating back to the 1700s, Avery Weigh-Tronix is headquartered in Birmingham in the UK, and has manufacturing facilities in the UK, USA, Canada, China and India. Avery Weigh-Tronix is part of the fortune 150 Illinois Tool Works (ITW) family and sits within its Test and Measurement Division.
