Mel Nickol grew up in the construction business.  His father was a general contractor in eastern Iowa and Mel learned the business early.  In 1979, Mel bought out the part of the business that his father's company operated as a sideline: Horizontal Drilling.Today Nickol Boring Inc. drills holes and installs casings for the Department of Transportation, cities, municipalities, and prime contractors within a 300 mile radius of Dyersville near Dubuque on Iowa's eastern border.Nickol Boring employees include Ruth Nickol in the office, Mel Nickol on project sites with 3 experienced and dedicated employees.
