In 1986 Steve Fleming founded Technical Rescue Systems after discovering a need for effective, retainable and quality technical rescue training.  TRS offers a service that teaches departments and industrial safety/rescue organizations throughout the world in Emergency Services Rope Rescue, Confined Space Entry & Rescue, Rescuer Safety & Scene Evaluation, Industrial Fall Protection, Communication Tower Climbing and Rescue and Teaching Techniques to adults.  These courses have been developed and taught to the industrial sector, fire and emergency services, military, construction industry, including, but not limited to:  wind power, electrical power, mining operations and rescue, communication towers and inspection engineers.

 

Founder and owner Steve Fleming just retired after 37 years with the fire department.  He was a Captain for the Poudre Fire Authority in Ft. Collins, Colorado. He has been involved with the fire/rescue service since 1977 and is a state-certified Firefighter III, Fire Instructor I, Colorado State Evaluator II, Emergency Medical Technician, NFPA certified hazardous materials team technician and vocational fire service instructor.  In 1990 Steve was elected on the Board of Directors for the National Association for Search and Rescue and served as vice president for external affairs until September 1994.  In 1992 he was selected to serve on the NFPA 1 9 8 3 standard committee involving "Life Safety Rope, Harnesses & Auxiliary Equipment". In May 1995 Steve was selected to serve on the NFPA "Technical Rescue" 1 6 7 0 committee.  Steve was a regular columnist for FireRescue magazine and as of January 1995 was appointed contributing editor of FireRescue magazine.  In 1999 Steve started with Safety One Inc. Littleton, CO developing, training and managing the Antenna Tower Training Division.  Working up to the level of Master Instructor teaching students to “Qualified Climber” level on communication towers throughout the world.  In 2009 Steve was asked to serve on the ANSI (American National Standard Institute) committee 10.48 Telecommunications Tower Climbing and is currently the chair for the “Training and Rescue” sections of that standard.  In 2011 Steve was asked and accepted as a Staff Instructor for Front Range Community College in Fort Collins for the Emergency Services department.
