Job Summary

The Tower Foreman (FTF) is a senior-level field leader responsible for supervising tower crews and ensuring all tower construction, installation, and maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications. This role oversees daily field operations, directs crew assignments, provides hands-on support for complex tower and rigging tasks, and serves as the primary point of contact between field personnel, project management, and site stakeholders.

The ideal candidate demonstrates expert technical knowledge, strong leadership abilities, and a deep commitment to workplace safety while maintaining high-quality workmanship and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise tower crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of wireless communication structures and equipment.
  • Plan and coordinate daily field activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
  • Perform and oversee advanced tower climbing, rigging, and equipment installation tasks.
  • Conduct pre-job assessments, hazard analyses, and daily safety briefings.
  • Enforce OSHA, NATE, RF safety protocols, fall protection standards, and company safety procedures.
  • Review project plans, construction drawings, RFDS sheets, and engineering specifications to ensure accurate execution.
  • Serve as the primary field liaison with project managers, engineers, clients, and site representatives.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, compliance, and accuracy according to industry and company standards.
  • Troubleshoot technical and operational issues to keep projects on schedule.
  • Maintain daily reports, safety documentation, expense tracking, and site records.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate tower technicians to support team development and performance.
  • Manage tools, equipment, and materials to ensure proper use and availability.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to climb towers and perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Capable of lifting, carrying, and handling heavy equipment and materials.
  • Ability to work at heights for extended periods while following strict safety procedures.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (100% travel required, Monday–Friday or 6-week rotation schedule).
  • Ability to work flexible schedules based on project and site demands.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in tower construction, wireless infrastructure, climbing, and rigging.
  • Prior leadership experience as a Senior Top Hand or equivalent supervisory role preferred.
  • Current Authorized Climber & Rescuer certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NATE, ANSI, and company safety standards.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, scopes of work, and engineering documents.
  • Experience with field documentation, quality control, and crew management.
  • OSHA 30 certification and advanced rigging certifications preferred.
