Folkerson Communications, LTD. - Harker Heights, Texas - October 2011 to Present

As the primary installer of Holocom PDS for Folkerson Communications, I conduct preliminary job walks and create a materials list. I lead a small team to ensure all Holocom and CAT6 cable is installed to IA and IDG standards. As the lead cable technician, I lead a crew in installing various types of low voltage copper cable and fiber. I am responsible for reading blueprints and establishing the networking cable backbone. I build telecommunication closets from the ground up by installing ladder racks to support cable, cable racks to house the patch panels, and ensure proper grounding of all equipment. I am responsible for terminating and testing CAT3, CAT5e, CAT6, and CAT7 cable. I activate data jacks by patching cables into networking devices. I install and activate four line analog phones by connecting the incoming dial tone to station locations via 66 blocks. I assist in the deployment of window based computers in small businesses and assist configuring the network. I install various drivers and software to personal computers. I connect and troubleshoot network printers, scanners, wireless access points, and fax machines.

Signal Support System Specialist

US Army - Fort Hood, Texas - July 2007 to October 2011

I primarily served as part of a retransmission team used to allow aviation components to communicate successfully with the command team on the ground. I collaborated with brigade elements to ensure successful transmission of sensitive information over FM frequencies throughout our area of operation in Baghdad, Iraq. I conducted communication security change overs at battalion and brigade level. As the Retransmission Team chief, I supervised and assisted in the successful day to day functioning of the section. I ensured all equipment under my section was maintained and inventoried at all times. I installed FM radios and Blue Force Trackers inside HMMWV and MTVs. I signed for and safe guarded communication security encryption keys and the devices used to transfer those keys. As a member of the Battalion S-6 shop, I maintained and ensured proper functions of GBS, TACSAT radios, Blue Force Tracker, network shared drives, outlook accounts, and FM radios. I maintained and created user accounts on the network for the 404th battalion and four other detachments assigned under our area of operation using Active Directory.
